Bihar Chief Minister Launches Development Projects Worth ₹4,233 Crores

Major Initiatives Unveiled by the Chief Minister

Today, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated and laid the foundation for various public welfare and development projects worth ₹4,233 crores via remote technology at 1 Aney Marg. Additionally, he transferred over ₹113 crores to the accounts of more than 241,000 farmers affected by crop damage due to heavy rainfall and floods in August 2025, under the agricultural input grant scheme.


 


During the event, the Panchayati Raj Department announced the construction of 663 Panchayat government buildings at a cost of ₹1,823 crores, along with the establishment of 1,000 marriage halls under the Chief Minister's Kanya Vivah Mandap scheme, which has a budget of ₹500 crores. This initiative aims to provide modern wedding venues in all village panchayats across Bihar, offering economically disadvantaged families a convenient and affordable option for their daughters' weddings.


 


Furthermore, the Building Construction Department reported the completion of 367 buildings at a cost of ₹825 crores, while village panchayats contributed ₹160 crores for 140 additional Panchayat government buildings. These facilities serve as the secretariat for village panchayats, housing offices for various departmental personnel and providing essential services such as a public service center, post office, and Sudha milk parlour. They are also utilized during floods and natural disasters.


 


In addition, the inauguration of the Daudnagar campus (Aurangabad) was completed, with an investment of ₹40.46 crores from the Agriculture Department. The Bihar Food Storage and Training facility in Patna (BIGSMT) was also inaugurated. The Chief Minister expressed his appreciation for the significant contributions of the Panchayati Raj, Building Construction, and Agriculture Departments in these projects, stating that they will accelerate development efforts in the state and improve the quality of life for residents.


 


During the event, Secretary of the Panchayati Raj Department, Manoj Kumar, presented a green sapling to the Chief Minister. A short film showcasing the initiatives of the Panchayati Raj Department was also screened. Present at the event were Energy and Planning Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Panchayati Raj Minister Kedar Prasad Gupta, Chief Secretary Deepak Kumar, Development Commissioner Dr. S. Siddharth, and other senior officials. Additionally, through video conferencing, Food and Consumer Protection Minister Leshi Singh, district magistrates from all districts, and representatives from Panchayati Raj institutions participated.
